18 Feb UNIV LIBANO: “FAMILY IMPACT”
Libano’s local phase of UNIV Congress 2016 took place on January 30 in Jounieh. The session consisted on the presentation of three university papers and a keynote speaker. The university papers addressed the following topics: the importance of communication in the family; sports in the family; and, models of family presented in movies.
The keynote speaker was Micheline Habib, journalist and writer. In analyzing man’s creation, Ms. Habib states there are two characteristics of man that are essential: his capacity to share and to take care of others. These two characteristics of the person are best grounded when developed within the family. However, these essential aspects of the person are constantly attacked by an individualistic culture that weakens the role and mission of the family in society; family values are being replaced by selfie values (put ourself first).
Lastly, Ms. Habib together with Juliana Najen, architect and director of ONG PRODES, evaluated the university papers written by the young students, giving them some orientation and encouraging them to further research the topics of their papers.
